Service Learning
Peaslee partners with high schools, colleges and universities to host groups and develop projects that combine academic skill development with real-world problems in order to create a mutually beneficial exchange. These partnerships are enlightening for students, instructors and Peaslee staff and students as we learn how to achieve multiple goals together through experiential learning and reflection.
Student Reflections
“One basement of a small building showed me how the people who live there are not much different than the people around me in the suburbs. There are still kids being kids, parents working to pay off the bills, and other day-to-day tasks taking place. Maybe some things were slightly altered, but my single story of Over-the-Rhine was broken on that day. I’m glad I was wrong about what I thought, and hope to share it with other people and break their negative single story about Over-the-Rhine as well.”

“…I lived in Westwood for 10 years, and when I lived there, I was conscious that people struggled to make ends meet in the community. I moved to Mason freshman year, and that knowledge got pushed to the back of my brain. It’s frustrating to know that unless we’re reminded of poverty we seem to forget.”
